Hungary Car Hire

Car hire in Hungary is as advanced as you can get in any European country.

In Hungary cars are normally rented out (although do always check any contract you are entering into!) with Collision Damage Waiver and Third Party cover included, but with a large excess (£500 - £1000 is typical) which you remain liable for.

Rather than having the dilemma and stress of whether or not to accept the risk of paying the excess or having to foot a seemingly massive bill for the car rental firms excess insurance at the car hire desk, we suggest getting a stand alone car hire insurance policy which will only costs a couple of pounds a day, but will cover both your excess and any damage to the tyres, wheels, underbody and roof of the car. You will end up with both cheaper and fuller cover than buying an alternative at the car rental desk in Hungary.

Hungary is landlocked but, whilst it doesn't have access to the sea water, it does boast Europe's largest lake (Lake Balaton), the second largest thermal lake in the world and the largest thermal water cave system. It's a fascinating place to visit.
