What's the maximum number of passengers I can take in my hire car?

We explain how many people you are allowed to have in your hire car.

Each passenger needs a seat belt, so the number of seat belts in a rental car dictates the maximum number of passengers allowed.

Car hire insurance generally covers vehicles with up to 9 seats (including the drivers) but some will only cover up to 7. If you are hiring a larger vehicle do make sure you have chosen a suitable policy.
